A solo exhibition of new work in paint, print and ceramics
The title contains two ideas: firstly, of those who have passed, but live on as ghosts in our memory and imagination; secondly, here before us is what we meet with in any given moment. It is what we choose to experience, shaped by our attention, interests and beliefs. These ideas are the starting point for the new works I will be making over the next nine months.

Robert Fitzmaurice makes paintings, prints and ceramics involving emblematic figures and encoded allusions. His travels in Europe and Asia have led to a fascination with stories and forms of the figure from different cultures. Influenced by both eastern and western traditions the has established a personal language that in his own words “aims to conjure a presence”.
